How did you get into the self-empowerment and healing business?
It got into me! I was always interested in health and healing, and knew there was so much more than what was being practiced. All this time and money spent on healthcare and still everyone I knew was sick. I knew there had to be a better way. The Universe follows intention, and I began meeting people who thought differently than I had been raised. They taught me that healing (and life in general) needn’t be so difficult and that it only seemed that way because I was ignorant to the way things really work—with awareness, my health and vivacity each day is a given.
So how do things really work?
How much time do you have? (laughs) Well, for one thing, we are the creators of our lives. I used to think I was the victim to others’ whims but experience has shown quite the opposite. With this awareness of the bigger picture, I can be more loving and open, knowing what’s happening and why. This has made others appreciate me; always saying they feel better in my presence than when not. There is a scientific reason for this of course, just like water seeks its own level, energy can raise to the higher frequency of the more affable individuals in the room. Even without the science, wouldn’t you rather be with someone who already sees you as perfect, who accepts you as you are, when you are, and how you are?
Yes, of course. So why aren’t we taught that in school?
It’s been my observation that the most important things aren’t taught in school. Ask anyone what they want in life and they’ll most likely mention what I call the big three: Health, Wealth, and Relationships. Outside of a basic and rather insular Health class I took in High School, none of these are taught, much less discussed. Nothing against the three Rs, which I find odd that only one begins with an R, but emphasis on the What without telling the children Why leads to apathy in learning. I think we should be listening to our children as much as talking to them. Some children, such as those labeled as Indigos, know a lot more about the higher truths than many adults, especially politicians. (laughs) Ultimately, everyone wants to be heard, seen, and accepted as they are.
Well said. So, in a way, you’re re-educating people about health in your practice and in your first book. And now you’ve written about Abundance in your second book, the anthology with Dr Wayne Dyer, Anthony Robbins, and many others. Why the shift?
To me, it’s not a shift at all. Abundance is a state of mind. It’s also the end result of following your passions. You can be wealthy selling real estate, but if you’re heart’s not in it, no matter how much you’ve made, it’ll feel empty within you; you’ll always want more. Wealth and abundance are not the same thing. Nothing wrong with wanting more, but true happiness is about accepting what you have and sharing your gifts, be they material or otherwise. These actions actually bring more prosperity than hoarding or as some would call it, saving. Our mind will tell us this isn’t true, repeatedly if need be, but if we don’t listen to it, but rather listen with our hearts, the best decisions are already made for us and accessible. Tap in, and what you truly want, even more than the big three, happiness, is readily available.
So, are you happy?
Great question! So direct. Life isn’t about always being happy. In fact, if that’s you’re goal, you’ll never attain it. Happiness is a choice, not a destination. With awareness of the bigger picture, it’s easier to make that choice. Peasants in India are happy even while begging for their next meal because they believe they are paying off their Karma and that their next life may be the one of spiritual riches—enlightenment, if you will. It’s all a matter of Perspective, thus the name of the first book. I’m happier now than I’ve ever been and yet I still have moments some would call down. The difference between me decades back and me now is that the amount of time spent unhappy is dramatically less. Awareness has answered the Why, and then I can choose to get back on the horse rather quickly and ride off into the sunset. I enjoy what I do, and my clients appreciate it as well. I’m spreading awareness of what most call the higher truths of the Universe through the Intuitive Health Consultation work and through writing. Overall, I fell very blessed.
